Hi! I am Alex Lee.

I have a PhD in Social Science.

Before that I was a freelance web developer for a number of years.

I worked mostly on Drupal sites, and if you don’t know Drupal, it is a great system for building big, powerful websites. Its not so good for cheap, basic websites.

I have also worked on WordPress, Shopify and Wix sites. They are all fine, but if you want a very basic website, these are overkill.

I know a lot of people using these systems for personal, voluntary groups and small businesses and find it frustrating that people have to spend so much time and money on these systems.

They all rely on databases that can be hacked, and therefore need constant updates and security patches. If people just need a basic HTML-based site, there’s basically very very little security risk, so it saves you money and time. Yes, there is an admin backend and someone could steal your password, but as your changes are all stored and logged on GitHub, you can just revert back if necessary and then change your password.

WordPress, Drupal and others all require technical a lot of skill to edit them. In contrast, these sites are so basic that with a little bit of practice, you can easily learn to code and change the site yourself. If you break it, you just revert back to before you made the changes.

Er, I digress, this was supposed to be about me. Anyway, that’s why I am offering this service, because I want to offer cheap, simple sites so people can avoid wasting so much time and money on stuff they don’t want or need.

So, about me. I live in Darlington in the North East. I like writing music and songs and playing live. I read books. I like nice coffee.

In my academic work, I write about justice, inequality, capitalism, elite power and transformative change.
